Founded in 2013, Power For The People aims to challenge the monopoly power of the UK’s ‘big six’ energy companies – who continue to hike-up prices and dodge their taxes – by popularising the commonsense idea of re-nationalising our country’s energy production and supply.
Together with our ‘sister campaign’ Bring Back British Rail, we aim to highlight the disastrous consequences of the privatisation of our essential public services in the ’80s and ’90s which has caused prices to soar whilst standards have fallen. We will ensure that the history of our once proudly publicly-owned services and utilities is not forgotten!
This website, and our Facebook, Twitter and Riseup communities, aim to unite people suffering from fuel poverty with those concerned about energy security and climate change to give us a collective voice. Together we are demanding a publicly-owned energy network run for people not profit.
