They're cutting it because there's no massive profits in it for them and their rich mates. We need clean energy, not fracking poisoning our land

REVEALED: Our #DivestFracking report, released today, shows how UK councils are investing millions in the global fracking industry.
Fracking threatens communities, destroys local landscapes, and fuels climate change. As the industry is poised to frack in the UK, its more important than ever that we take a stand against fracking.

Why should we compensate any private utility company that's been ripping us off for 30 years? Water, Energy, let's renationalise now! ✊The water companies have cost us billions in bills, dodged taxes, government subsidies and environmental damage. If anything, they should be compensating us!... ... See MoreSee Less
When British Gas was privatised, my mother, taken in by the rhetoric, decided to buy £100 worth of shares. 12 months later, she got her first statement. She had £8 of dividend (not a bad rate) and then, looking at the other side of the paper, was appalled to discover that her "portfolio" was now worth £1,000.00. Yes ... in one year her investment had gone from £100 to £1,000. Disgusted and finally realising what "privatisation" really meant, she sold the shares, gave £900 to a charity and swore that she would never, ever consider voting Tory again (not that she had, I think ...)
Agree, nationalisation with no compensation.
All power production and supply plus Rail and Water too if you ask me !
Not to mention that 90% of the time the company's have justified the reason for price rises is investment in the system therefore we have all already paid for them to upgrade the infrastructure without them having the need to spend any of thier dividends which they can still carry on handing out to themselves on a regular basis 😠
While all of the privatisations of the utility companies was nothing more than a Tory con-trick, the worst, by far, was that of the water industry. It was written in to the initial agreements with these parasites that it was acceptable to raise prices, year on year, above inflation by up to 10% a year!!!!! That is why we, the punters, have seen water bills sky-rocket, particularly in the first 10 years after privatisation; it was nothing more than a licence for these greedy bastards to print (our!) money. I am old enough to remember when your water rates amounted to, around 10%, of the rateable value of your house. Nowadays it is nothing more than daylight bloody, robbery and the service is shite!
Totally agree. Why on earth should we pay thrives to return our stolen property?!? The Tories had no right to sell our utilities off cheap to their rich greedy mates. None of it belonged to them in the first place. The Water Board, British gas etc belongs to us. If you or I buy a stolen car and the rightful owner comes forward, we don't get any compensation. It's just tough luck. Same rules should apply to the wealthy swindlers. They knew very well they were 'buying' (stealing) from ordinary citizens
This should apply to all privatised utilities. 1p in the £ seems reasonable.
