Having just six energy companies, the market place is madness and allowing them to make huge profits from working-class families should not be allowed.

I prefer the country’s energy supply in the hands of politicians and not capitalists, but the margin is very slight.

We have sold off too many of our utilities that should be owned by the taxpayers. Water, Gas, Electricity are all owned by foreigners.

All energy should be state owned.

It is obscene for anyone (including the government with VAT) and especially foreigners to make money from the sale of domestic fuel. Privatisation is essential.

Energy should not be privately owned as profits go to shareholders first. Also those on the lowest incomes and on pre-pay meters pay the most for their fuel.

Water and power services should be run by national authorities. Extra money needed for investment could be borrowed at fixed rates. This petition really needs to go big.

Re-nationalise. Control of the supply of power should be on a non-profit basis. These services should be run for citizens not for profit.

Re-nationalise all the stuff that once belonged to us now.

It’s time to return to sanity. No utility should be for private profit.

Energy companies are too greedy. Our sick, elderly and working-class can’t afford to heat their homes. Re-nationalise as soon as possible and keep us out of debt.

Let’s get the utilities out of the hands of these greedy bastards. They should belong to the community at large.

Privatisation has proved not to be in the interests of the nation. Competition has not resulted in companies vying to please customers, but in a self-interested cartel.

Today’s report on the great energy rip-off sums it up really; Switch continually or get overcharged. We are not the idiots they take us for.

Energy prices are way too high. We are in debt already and next year will be worse. They are bleeding us dry.

Get back to sanity.

Our utilities should be in public ownership. They can be run well on a not-for-profit basis. We are being exploited by ideologically driven policies.

Essential services should be publicly owned and not a business driven by profit.

If this industry had not been privatised by the Thatcher regime, think how much revenue it would be generating for the State.

It’s past time to roll back the Thatcherite privatisations which did nothing but sow confusion as to what is the supposed best deal. And that’s the least of it.
