Energy should not be privately owned as profits go to shareholders first. Also those on the lowest incomes and on pre-pay meters pay the most for their fuel.

It’s about time these companies were punished. They’re absolutely disgusting, the lot of them.

We need affordable, sustainable, clean energy, for the common good, not private profit.

Governments have failed to correct this. We must.

We have sold off too many of our utilities that should be owned by the taxpayers. Water, Gas, Electricity are all owned by foreigners.

Privatisation of power is a broken concept. Re-nationalisation would literally bring power back to the people.

I would hate to be old in this country, and have to choose between food or heating.

All the main utilities should be under public ownership. Rich individuals should not be able to profit from them.

I have worked all my life and receive no benefits. At 64, I am sitting at home wearing three sweaters as I type this. Fuel supplies should never have been privatised.

Too many million-pound salaries for energy company CEOs while the elderly and others choose between heating and lighting and eating.

Either re-nationalise or be run as social enterprise which reinvests any excess into better infrastructure or gives to community projects.

If shareholders’ profit was reallocated to fund development of sustainable sources of power it would vastly reduce the cost of living for many poor families.

Fuel should be a nationalised industry, to ensure that there are certain controls in place so that everyone can stay warm.

Government and corporations need to realise that they do not have the power. We, the people, do. It is the duty of us, the people, aware of this, to spread the message.

Free market capitalism is not the best way for everything and is certainly not the optimal philosophy for providing essential services to a country’s population.

Dear British Gas, stop ripping me off.

It’s time to acknowledge that some industries should be run for the benefit of people, not profit.

It’s high time we stood together for the good of the majority.

This issue is far too important to be left to multinationals who put profit before people and don’t care about driving customers into poverty and despair.

At the moment energy companies can print money. The Government is powerless to stop them.

The aim to privatise our natural emerging monopolies would only end in disaster. There is no competition on energy provision and it’s a huge waste of resources.
